ha
you know what never ceases to amaze and entertain me about writing and blogging? trying to capture a moment. as soon as you write it, it changes. Today i stepped barefoot onto a twig/stick/thorn in our mulch. barbed at the top, it went an inch deep into my foot. a trip to the urgent care, where they slit the puncture, removed the stick, and stictched it up (one stitch), tetnus shot and anti-biotics. i am now laying in bed eating ice cream and appreciating the irony of my last hard working post. bed rest for a few days. and maybe no heels on friday night. ah well. put your shoes on hippies. love.

accidents or an illness have often seemed to have happened when i needed to pay more close attention to something i was missing, or ignoring, even if it was a needed rest. just a thought.
ReplyDeleteenjoy your downtime, lots of time to gather your blessings before the Holiday.
Yep, this hasnt escaped my vision and understanding. Time to take a break. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteDo you consider yourself a modern-day hippie?
ReplyDeleteOnly when I consider the acronym Highly Intelligent People Persuing Interesting Endeavors Successfully. Then yeah, Im down with it. Not much for labels though. :)
ReplyDeletehi k,
ReplyDeletei'm the one who suggested a break was in order, and guess what, i had a unexpected medical issue pop up, too, just after posting that!
so, i also have been on angelic-enforced rest right through Thanksgiving! this is why giving advice is always dangerous ; )
and yes, i have been pondering my own state, and making good use of the time to take rest, and reflect upon things.
anyway, the boundary between the other and self blurs if we look closely and accept it.
blessings to you and your loved ones this holiday, and speedy health.
p.s. my doctor's recommendations stated, "keep quiet and calm" during recovery, ha. the universe is a wonder!
Hope youre healing well and that "quiet and calm is working out for you" ;). A friend took my stitch out yesterday and I am looking forward to getting back out there. Quietly. Blessings
ReplyDeleteMiss the daily going-ons in your world...selfishly, it helps me keep on track...
ReplyDeleteMissing your posts. Hope you are well.
ReplyDeleteHi Kristen,
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say Hi!
I've enjoyed reading your story. Wanted to tell you mine was similar, stayed because of 3 beautiful kids, married to a very wealthy man and the stress of someone so driven was also not healthy for me. Unfortunately I'm now stuck in Phoenix, from San Diego,(116F today), because of my mother, so haven't moved to that cabin yet but am needing to do so. If you have any words of encouragement... I'd so appreciate it.
First of all I would say lucky for you and your mom for being so close together. My mom moved to Florida a few years ago to be close to me and what a god send. Not always easy, she is a wonderful support and so great for my kids.Yay for you for being out of a marriage that wasnt healthy for you. Take time, lots of time, to heal. You dont need a cabin to lead a simpler, happier life although it does make it fun. Open a bank account specifically for your future dreams and work towards it. Figure out what little things you can do right now that will help you feel like your making progress. Garden. Grow your own organic food. Plant flowers. Make art. Dream. Go for a walk. Get rid of your television. Play games with your kids. Read. Make time for friends. Cook. Stay home. Go camping. Rent a cabin in the woods (many state parks have them). Learn something new. Breathe. Do nothing. Scale down. Relax, you've come so far. I know how hard it can be. Be patient, what is yours will come to you. All the best. Kristen
ReplyDeleteKristen,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for answering my letter.
You're so right, I will just try and take some small little steps toward living a more peaceful life. I already don't watch tv and I eat pretty clean... My job is crazy working with pilots and private jets and clients....so will definitely have to find something I love to do that isn't as stressful.
How are you doing? What's new with you and your kids? Your garden?! Your foot??
Thank you again Kristen for responding!
Many blessings,
Mary
